Institutional Structure of the Grama Panchayat
President
The President is the chief administrative leader of the Grama Panchayat. The President provides leadership for the administrative procedures and development activities of the Panchayat and coordinates the functioning of the Panchayat Committee.
Vice President
Assists the President in administrative activities. Performs administrative responsibilities in the absence of the President.
Development Standing Committee
Plans and implements development projects. Provides leadership for infrastructure development and public welfare activities.
Finance Standing Committee
Oversees the Panchayat's revenue, expenditure, budget, and financial management.
Health–Education Standing Committee
Coordinates and supervises activities related to health, sanitation, education, and public health.
Welfare Standing Committee
Implements social security schemes and welfare schemes. Coordinates and supervises public welfare activities.
Other Sub-Committees
These are committees formed for activities in specific areas. They provide assistance and guidance for various projects.
Panchayat Secretary
The Secretary is the chief executive officer of the Grama Panchayat. Coordinates office administration, the activities of employees, and the decisions of the Panchayat Committee.
Assistant Secretary
Assists the Secretary in administrative matters. Functions as the Member Secretary of Kudumbashree and as the coordinator of various welfare schemes.
Junior Superintendent
Supervises office activities, file procedures, and the functioning of various sections.
Accountant
Manages the Panchayat's financial transactions, accounts, budget, and revenue-expenditure statements.
Senior Clerk
Coordinates office administrative procedures, important files, and the functioning of various sections.
Clerk
Handles files, applications, tax records, and registers. Also provides ward-based services.
Office Attendant
Provides assistance for the day-to-day functioning of the office. Performs activities such as transferring documents and arranging the office.
Brief Description of the Main Components
Grama Sabha
The Grama Sabha is the general meeting of all voters in the Panchayat. It is an important platform for development projects and people's participation.
Grama Panchayat Committee
It is the governing body consisting of elected representatives. It controls the administration and development activities of the Panchayat.
President and Vice President
They are the elected administrative leaders of the Grama Panchayat. They provide leadership for administration and development.
Standing Committees
These are specialised committees functioning in areas such as development, finance, health, education, and welfare.
Panchayat Secretary
